Atlanta Braves to Win it all
BRAVES #1
Well.... it's really interesting to me that in many of the sports sites out there (ESPN, FOX Sports) actually have my Braves winning it all this year. This surprises me because I have never really seen sports analysts give the Braves the respect due. They are one of the most consistent contenders every year for the last 16 years. Their pitching staff has had its trials but always has been good. So I don't see how this year is any different than any other year. Why didn't they say the Braves could take the title 2 years ago? Granted this year we will have one of the best pitching staffs in the NL and with Chipper Jones, Mark Teixeira, Brian McCann, and Jeff Francoeur in the lineup it will be one exciting year.

But baseball is a marathon, so I don't expect much more than Atlanta to show the consistency they always have had. Good pitching, decent hitting, and always a chance to come back and win a game or two. Hopefully Interleague play will not be our downfall this year. If it wasn't for that, we could have won our 16th Division title in a row. Oh well... GO BRAVES!!

Gentoo
Started to install Gentoo, a distribution of Linux yesterday. I am very impressed with their site and cannot wait til I am done compiling the kernel for this beast so I can install and configure MythTV. Happy days.

Added more functionality to Blog
YEAH!! Today I managed to successfully create more admin functions for my blog. I can now fully delete entries as well as add them to anywhere I want. I will later have the ability to undelete entries because delete really only renames the entries instead of destroying them completely.

Worlds of Fun
My brother, my two cousins, a few of my cousin's friends and I all went to World's of Fun this weekend. We, for lack of words, had World's of Fun. I personally liked the Mamba, a 205 foot high rollercoaster. We also went to two Waffle Houses this weekend. It is a great resturant, and I wish there was one in Omaha.

Cool iTunes Wish List
About a month ago I submitted a request to the iTunes suggestion box asking if there was a way you could make a 'Wish List' of sorts inside of iTunes. Well... now there is. Isn't Apple great? I was using the Shopping Cart feature but that got to be ridiculous because there are certain songs I want to buy with one-click and there are other songs that I could wait on and just put in my wish list. (Received in an Apple eNews message)

iTunes tip: Creating a music wish list

Wish List
Wish List Have you ever discovered a song on the iTunes Music Store that you didn't want to purchase immediately but didn't want to forget about either? You may not realize it, but iTunes lets you keep track of those songs. And here's how easily you can do so. Switch to iTunes and then:
  1. Choose "New Playlist" from the File menu and name your new playlist-- e.g., "Wish List."
  2. Click the Music Store icon and find a song you fancy-- "Banana Pancakes" on Jack Johnson's In Between Dreams, let's say.
  3. Drag the song into your new Wish List folder.
That's it. And when you're ready, you can purchase the song right from the Wish List with a single click. Just by clicking on the "Buy Song" button.

Turner County High School
I was reading Digg today and saw a link to this CNN article about Turner County High School. According to the article this year they had their first integrated prom. Which begs the question for me: How many other counties still have segregated proms, and why? I am just awestruck that in todays society, things like this still go on. After reading on, I find out that some of the students still attended a "white" prom while others weren't allowed to go to the integrated one.

Why? Because "[their parents] don't agree with being with the colored people". This for me is the #1 thing that scares me the most. Society today has a lot of things that are going wrong and racism is one that is supposedly "better today than it was yesterday". I disagree. I feel like it's worse because it's not as obvious. Things like this only remind me of that fact. I really wish that someday Dr. King's Dream could come true for everybody in America; the country that is best geared to make this dream a reality. However, the more things change the more they really are the same I guess.

I guess there is a lighter side to this whole thing and that is there is hope for the future. A vast majority of American youth today don't know life segregated and the future will be much brighter that way. I think the problems that society faces with racism today will be different tomorrow, but I don't think it will ever go away. I just pray that God can help America make a society that closely resembles Heaven because in Heaven, there will be people of all races praising God and worshiping together.

Firefox 1.0 is here

Firefox1.0
Firefox1.0

The new firefox is out and I have to say that it is spetacular :) The bug fixes that have been implemented have made the proformance of the browser at startup a lot better. I haven't expierenced any difference in the speed of the browser yet, but I am sure once I start using it more I will find something that is different that I like. Download Firefox 1.0

Google E-mail
I have a GMAIL account! My buddy Matt invited me in and I am enjoying every minute of it. I love the fact you can search emails and it also has other neat features like autocompletion of email addresses, filtering, and probably my favorite feature, keyboard commands. Most of these features are not new to an email client, but the way Google chooses to impliement them is just fabulous. Other online email clients don't stack up to Gmail.

My Best Week Ever
Well, well, well... this has definately been my week. So Monday, FDR had a random drawing for best costume. Yours truly dressed up as Master Jedi Chase Windu (Mace's younger cousin) and I won a $10 gift certificate to Target. Secondly, last week I had entered a contest on mymac.com podcast show and the hosts Tim and Chad (who are totally awesome by the way) called me yesterday to tell me I won Macromedia Studio 8. So that's 2 yes TWO random drawings in 1 week. This has to be my best week ever because today, I am on my way to California to see my best buddy, Tim. This is totally excellent because I have never seen the ocean before (yet alone been to a costal city) and Tim lives a few miles away. I feel so blessed right now.

Ode to Podcasts
Podcasts are awesome!! I am subscribed to at least 5 that I listen to regularly. My favorite is TWiT - This week in Tech with Leo Laporte and the gang. This is the funnest most informative podcast out there. Others I listen too are diggnation, Security Now, the MacCast, and Ebert and Roeper.
